Can't change Calendar event once created

I have a few calendars for different people, all in the same instance… but if I create an event in the wrong calendar, I can’t then go into the event and change the calendar. I’ve got to delete the event and re-create it.

Is this deliberate for some reason? I’m on the latest version of HA and I have tried refreshing the browser (which seems to work for some missing configurations)

Do you know of a calendar application that offers this feature?

For example, the Google Calendar app lets you duplicate or delete an event, not move it to another calendar.

If you want this uncommon feature, consider creating a Feature Request.

It looks like it allows it as there is a drop down to the right, and also a “x” which removes the calendar… it just doesn’t allow you to select a new one.

Right, it’s not an existing feature.

No, the functions are there… they just don’t work. So not “not an existing feature” as I see it.

Post a screenshot of where you see the functions.

The “cross” can be selected and the contents are deleted, but nothing else can be put in its place. Also, the drop down arrow exists, but doesn’t respond.

I believe the calendar named “Mum” is using the Local Calendar integration. It allows you to edit an existing event.

If “Mum” were using the Google Calendar integration, or CalDAV integration, it wouldn’t even allow you to edit it.

  • The form used to create an event is the same one used to edit an event.
  • When creating an event, you get to choose the new event’s calendar.
  • When editing the event, the same form is used but the event’s calendar cannot be changed so the calendar field is locked (displayed in gray text).

I am using local calendars and I would expect the drop down to at least list the local calendars to be moved.
However, given what you’re saying, then there is something wrong with the X allowing the calendar to be deleted and then not allowing saving of the event.

Moving events from one calendar to another is not an existing feature.

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Can you re-phrase it?

The editing form allows you to delete the event, not the calendar.

The cross that I indicated with the arrow. It responds to being clicked on and thus deletes the calendar from the event. If this is to work as you say it should, then that X should also be greyed out and so should the drop down to the right.

Thanks, now I understand what you meant.

It uses the same form for creation and modification. The dropdown remains partially functional; the down-arrow shows no other options but the X erases the selected option.

Ideally both icons ought to be completely locked out (or hide the entire field) to prevent users from wondering about its seemingly limited purpose.

If you believe it should be locked/hidden, feel free to post a Feature Request about it in Home Assistant’s Github Frontend repository.

I’ve created a feature request. Thanks for the help.
