Newb first time set up with Home Assistant mini PC + Unifi UDM Pro. I changed IP to a static and put the device into IoT VLAN. I can ping the fixed IP, but but cannot connect, either via homeassistant:8123 or via the static IP address. I have firewall rule set up to allow the PC on my main LAN to connect to all VLANs. I cannot ping via command ping homeassistant.local, but can ping the static IP. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong?
Mdns not work across vlan
Can you put your PC in IOT vlan and try to connect?
Can you see login attempt in HA logs
Perhaps consider… Enterprise Smart Home Syndrome
Haha good one.
Although I too subscribe to the idea of keeping everything IoT separated from the ‘day-to-day’ network. It also allows you to restrict outbound connections more easily.
Vlan not needed for this but yes, easier to organize not do
Did you ever solve this issue? I am having a very similar issue where I sometimes can connect from my main to the IoT (where HA is located) and sometimes it just stops working. This only happens to the HA machine, all the other devices located in my IoT are reachable from my main VLAN. For HA it just shows the HA page and does not load any further (black background and HA logo). In Unifi FW I have mDNS and IGMP enabled for both VLAN’s. This is driving me nuts ![]()
and just 5 minutes after typing this it magically works again until next time when it stops working ![]()
