I recently purchased a Dahua IPC-B54IR-ASE-S3 and am trying to tie it into Home Assistant. Everything works fine except for the native camera motion detection. Regardless of the toggling of various AI/“Smart Plan” or “Motion Detection”/“Smart Motion Detection” options, I only ever see a trigger of generic motion detection come through. Has anyone here had any luck getting the camera to detect more? I’m basing everything of the feedback from home assistant, because I haven’t found where in the camera’s GUI for it to tell me what type of detect it detected (no internal log).
Small update… I changed from using the Dahua integration to ONVIF and the logs/alerts showed up. I don’t know if this means the Dahua integration is just dated or what, but it’s feeling like ONVIF is a superior method to the Dahua integration… at least for this instance.
Roller hasn’t developed his Dahua integration for a year or two, only occasionally implementing changes suggested by other users to fix any (new) bugs. Anyone who still has the Dahua integration working flawlessly with their Dahua camera is simply lucky.
I switched from Dahua to Onvif integration for my various Dahua cameras and NVRs a long time ago because the Dahua integration has had problems and bugs that haven’t been and aren’t being fixed.
If the Dahua integration still works for someone without issues, it also offers more features than the Onvif integration. For example, not all AI features of Dahua cameras/NVR are supported via Onvif integration.
I would also like rroller to continue developing and maintaining his Dahua integration, but if he doesn’t have the time or perhaps no longer wants to do it, then you/we just have to accept that.
