Can't get Blue Iris motion triggers to work

I think I understand how this is supposed to work, but the tips, tutorials, and guides are all out of date, and I have not been able to get it working.

Here is my environment:
HACS Blue Iris integration 2026.7.29 (Not the Blue Iris NVR integration)
Mosquitto Broker HA App 7.1.0 and the MQTT integration that came with it.
HA Details:

  • Installation method: Home Assistant OS
  • Core 2026.7.4
  • Supervisor 2026.07.5
  • Operating System 18.2
  • Frontend 20260624.6
    Blue Iris 6.0.9.12

I have been using this install guide: ha-blueiris/docs/bi-manual.md at afbf563a55b059f70525fc905cb8b21540cb8bd8 · kramttocs/ha-blueiris · GitHub

I have gotten BI to feed the motion alerts to HA via MQTT. I must have the format wrong, because the entities don’t update as expected. Here are the Blue Iris parts:

The required Client format ID has changed. It was a single word, typically “home” or “BlueIris” depending on your BI server name. But now it goes one level deeper so multiple BI servers can connect to a single HA server.

This is the “on trigger” action for camera “doorbell”. It follows kramttocs’ integration manual exactly, and is different from the older guides on YouTube:

And here is the result:

Note that there is a “BlueIris/BlueIris/Doorbell/Status” topic, as expected, and also a “BlueIris/Doorbell/Status” topic, and I don’t know what generates that one.

The Blue Iris integration only registered two of the seven motion events that BI sent from the Doorbell camera. It didn’t register any of the triggers from FrontDoor.
