I bought Home Assistant Green and Home Assistant Voice Preview and I’m having a hell of a time getting things up and running.
I’ve managed to work around most issues, but the main issue I’m stuck on is getting Home Assistant Voice Preview to do anything. I’ve even reset it and hoped that’d help but no go.
Initially things seemed to work as per the video guides, I plugged it in, got the spinning white led, when to Home Assistant/Setting and devices. Saw it listed as discovered, clicked Add, then after waiting a while realised I was meant to run to the device and press the button for some reason. So I ran and did that and nothing progressed from there. I retried a couple of times, managed to get to the same stage and this time pressed the “confirmation button”, it then prompted me to press it again, so I did, rinse repeat 3 times, and then it prompted for my Wifi password, which I entered, and then nothing. I don’t see the device in home assistant, don’t get it showing up in discovered again, if I press the button or try to talk to it nothing.
As I said I tried factory resetting a couple of times. I cant see the device showing up as a client in my router. If it wasn’t for the fact that it has a permanently spinning white light, or that it does the factory reset process properly i’d think the device was dead. I’ve tried different cables (I cant figure out why it didn’t come with one).
I don’t want to have to return everything, the whole reason I bought the Home Assistant Green was for the Voice Preview.
There are no outstanding HomeAssistant updates.
Edit:
I ended up trying the process again with a completely different phone, and surprisingly it showed the device in discoverable, so I had hoped that’d fix everything. Alas The exact same issue occurs, I connect, connect to wifi, it asks me to confirm authorisation by pressing the button. I press the button, then the app shows connecting and setting up wifi for 5 mins then prompts to confirm by pressing the button again, I’ve done this for about 20 minutes now.
I’ve tried 5GHz as well as 2.GHz.
