So I recently migrated my zha network over from my Skyconnect to my new Sonoff. It was a hassle (it didn’t rename the device in zha so I freaked out, restored backup, did it all over again… sigh).
And things are (barely) working, but they’re working when they’re working so there’s that.
But, one thing irks me. Every time I reboot I’m greeted by the “Add Sonoff 3.0 USB Dongle Plus” Integration and I’ve already migrated the radio and there’s nothing to add. If I click the Add button it starts the wizard and asks me if i want to set it up, I click Subit and then it says “Failed to probe the USB device”. Then it disappears until the next reboot. I realize there’s also an “Ignore button” but I’d rather fix it than sweep it under the rug.
Suppose a question for you Sonoff owners out there. Do you have it added as an integration?
May I then assume it would be displaying the same behavior if I added the Sonoff as a new dongle instead of doing a migration as in my case?
I’m considering upgrading to a Pi5 from my 3B+ (been getting out of memory errors since installing matter) and I’m wondering if I should start anew or if everything is fine with my installation and i can just import a backup. I hate having loose ends.
Ty for the reply though, just looking for a wee bit more info
Yes you’ll experience the same behavior. Migrating is not initiating the device discovery. Think of it as simply a suggested integration based off a search for connected devices.
Thank you. At first it was offering me to migrate the radio (as expected) but I was under the impression it would show up as an integration afterwards (much like the Skyconnect does).
Guess it’s off to the races with a PI5 then (if only it were more capable in terms of voice assist). But hey, if it gets rid of the constant Failed setup errors for Wyoming and Matter I’ll consider it worth it (and hopefully it fixes the hci0 bluetooth errors, those I’d like an explanation for as well, opened another topic for it).
Apparently using an unpowered USB hub to add it gets rid of the message permanently. I tried using a 0.5m usb 2.0 extension cable (the one the Skyconnect came with) but I kept getting the “Failed to probe the USB” device.
Then I discovered this topic and tried using an unpowered usb hub as suggested and now I’m no longer getting the “Add integration” message upon a reboot, even after eliminating the usb hub and plugging the Sonoff dongle directly into the Pi3B+'s usb 2.0 port (suppose I will be needing a hub for the pi 5 though).
Just wanna make sure I’m not missing an actual “Sonoff integration” on my integration screen before I migrate everything to the Pi5. I’d rather not have to start over, even though I only have a couple of devices, but wanna make sure my system is rock solid before I upgrade and import a backup.
