Ive been running the companion app on one of my tablets for several months without issues
yesterday it would not connect to HA on my home network via cloudfare so I
Unistalled the app, re downloaded from Google play
Went through connection and setup
type in my user name and password, then authenticate
I get a message saying you are about to give HA Companion app for android access to your home assistant instance…with a button below saying start over
It just sits there when I start over re entering all the info again same thing happens
not sure what I am doing wrong
any clues please
PS working in house and remotely on my Ultra 25 and on the tablet locally but I need remote on the tablet as well
thanks
Nobber
So am i right in thinking if my cloudfare tunnel is up and i can connect via my browser to my clodfare tunnel and get my home assistant… the the problem must be with the companion app?
and have you turned of your wifi , on your phone, if you want to connect to ha through cloud ?
Note: You do know there are “log-files”, in both your router /Ha and your phone, so instead of blindly trying over and over again, saying same and thinking, if HA refuse connection it’s in the log, if your router don’t see you phone with an external Ip, then your phone is on wifi, so check and come back with relevant info
and please don’t use the word remote unless you are certain that the device is Away
Wow thanks for your reply, yes of course i have turned off the wifi on my phone and i can still connect to HA via my cloudfare tunnel, the log in HA when i try to login via the companion app says unauthorised login attempt but i stiĺl cant figure out why
check if you have an ip_bans.yaml in config folder or .storage not sure where it ends up
also try to restart/reinstall the app so you clear it for old auth-tokens, or clean them manually
If you tried to access with phone over cloudflare to a http-address that request (IP) could end up as banned
Also go to apps/homeass and clear App-cache there
yeah i know you tried, but then also performed additional various settings, so maybe not so structured, so after install app chose most-secure, or less and stick to it( on own risk)
As you get an “unauthorized” answer in HA’s logfile, then it connects to HA
PS: RAW-Log or debug could reveal more than the ordinari Log-view , get use to always check RAW file when you se a relevant error, or not
You should come to this “choice” before you even try to login to HA, or you mean you can’t login to your Phone App ?
Seems like many in this Topic, don’t know about the value of being clear in describing what they do and have done, in a “structured” manner, maybe that reflects their “behavior” also , when dealing with Technology
Again be specific, I assume we should understand it as Your Browser ON Your Phone, right ?
And here does “off” means you are OFFline From your Home-network, OR you mean your are ON your Home network ?
ON My Home-NetWork == WIFI, You are accessing locally, most likely Through HTTP
OFF My Home-Network == You most likely have to connect Through HTTPS
I Assume you have read about the 2 different Cases , while Connecting, And you have followed, Done and understand, what it says on the Page ShadowFist Provided an url to !,
Sometimes it “helps” other people, whom are not inside your head, to understand, IF you describe in detailed /step by step, what you have done, In 1 Long process line, from A>B,
And post i.e snippets of logfiles … Not typing i.e > ISSUE, or post a picture, of where the Step/Procedure fails etc
Above you post your Privious Post, With a Commend “So going back to an earlier question” (Nothing new !, Not “refrased” And not particular “Clear”
