Try it again now.
Ok I will try it.
Sweet, I´m in ![]()
. I owe you one, many thanks ![]()
As far as I can tell, you have been there and have an active ban.
You are indeed banned from the HA Discord.
You were banned because you didnt follow rules multiple times. You were asked not to do something, you ignored the requests and continued to do it 3 additional times within an 8 hour span. Each accompanied with a request to stop.
Additionally Discord invites were sent to multiple Discord users (not even friends on Discord).
That is also a severe violation of our Discord rules.
And the initial ban on 2019 for offensive language to other users.
I’m unlisting this to not air out people’s dirty laundry across the forums. These are really much better suited for a private convo with the moderators, as you’ve already called out.
I can empathize with your situation, Thomas, sincerely. And I appreciate that you recognize it’s not an excuse; that level of self-awareness is a bit rare. However sending requests to join servers to people (more than once, even) without asking definitely falls under “unsolicited DMs”. Chatting with someone is fine, and asking before you send over an invite is the most optimal situation. If it were just a single person, this wouldn’t have been that much of an issue; regardless, if there’s a report of someone violating the rules in the server, action is taken.
This was your 3rd strike in the server - I will not be overturning this. You were very recently given a timeout for not listening to moderator requests, and once it was lifted followed almost immediately by spamming people out of excitement.
I am working on improving communications when these actions happen so that people do not need to post these types of inquiries in the future. However, the mods are not expected to explain to someone why they were banned - community members in general should understand the expectations of the platform they are on. Automating this process isn’t easy on Discord, though, as sending DMs to someone not in the server is complicated. My planned solution is having an email alias set up that members can email to get more information on the actions taken against their account.
You have a DM open with me still where you can talk to me further about this - I’m happy to talk more about it for sure. I’m locking this thread to prevent further back and forth out in public - hope everyone understands this.
