Hey, i had an issue with an add-on an tried out different backups from the last weeks. I was able to load them as expected. But then i went back to an old backup from 2024. Now i wanted to go back to a newer version. But all the backups from 2025 require a encription code to load the backup. But i never set any code. Do you know if and how i can load one of the backups from 2025 without the code? Thank you

Hi Matt, I had a similar issue - my HA SD card suddenly has read errors in the file system, so HA does not start. I thought “put back the backup” - but never realized that there is an encryption key process (I should have read the documentation fürther… )
So I wonder also
- is that key somewhere on the HA SD card, so we can use it, or does HA generate it when we ask for it?
You can access the key in system - backup - settings via the UI if you can still see that.
I am not sure about that, i don’t see the key in the system - backup - settings. Because i am in an old backup with a HA-version of 2024 and this whole backup-key thing came up with an upgrade in 2025. When i do an upgrade to a 2025-Version a new Backup key is generated. But it doesn’t seem to be the same / the one that i need to unlock my backups from the last weeks (with version of HA 2025)
