Can't restore Nabu Casa backup on new instance

An incident over the weekend caused me to lose my VM that ran HAOS. It was up to date, v17.

Created a new VM, opted to restore from Nabu Casa cloud backup, and it says “Your installation method doesn’t support apps. If you want to restore these, you have to install Home Assistant OS”.

This doesn’t make sense because I am running HAOS. I have tried 16.9 and 17.1 in case there was some weirdness there (I know something about apps changed). Both images give the same problem.

Any ideas? I do have some local backups so I’m probably not totally dead, but it’s a bit puzzling.

Not at a point I can use that link since the instance isn’t fully set up. I can see this in the CLI though:

Ok. Well, I just tried the restore without “apps” checked, booted the instance, and then was able to restore the apps from cloud backup in the System menu.

Weird quirk, I am up and running now though.
