I’m assuming the way around this is to upload the file to my device and import it that way but can someone tell me why I am unable to import a backup that I exported? What’s the point if the file size limit is 16mb? Am I missing something?
Same here. I’ve got everything going to a NAS which is mounted in system > Network. They end up being similar ~1.5gb size and I haven’t had an issue with restoring them. That said, I haven’t done a out of box experience (OOBE)/from scratch restore in a long time. Not sure, how it would be handled without it being mounted to the system.
The onboarding restore screen also lists backups it finds on disk.
Drop your tar into the backups folder inside your mapped config folder, restart the server, and reload the onboarding page — it should show up as a restorable backup with no upload at all.
This MAX_CLIENT_SIZE patch to a system subroutine may affect other HomeAssistant apps that use the aiohttp subroutine.
I recommend you only temporarily use this workaroind to perform your restore and then put it back again to the previous value.
I suggest you follow the other thread and GitHub for developments.
