Change Weather Provider

I live in the Northeast United States (New Jersey). When I initially installed HA, the Meteorologisk institutt integration was selected to provide weather support. I would like to change to use the NWS National Weather Service integration instead. Is there documentation somewhere on the steps to accomplish this? I am assuming I would 1st need to de-couple the Meteorologisk institutt integration. Thanks in advance for any help!

Do the opposite of this: Meteorologisk institutt (Met.no) - Home Assistant

Instead of adding the integration, find it in the Configuration / Integrations page, click on the three dots icon, select Delete.

Add your new integration following the instructions here: National Weather Service (NWS) - Home Assistant

tom_l - Thanks for the reply. As I am looking at the integration pages of both weather providers a bit more closely now, I see that the Meteorologisk institutt is used by 74% of folks, and the NWS by 2%. I am wondering if that is because there are way more users of HA from outside the US, or does the NWS integration suck?

I couldn’t say as I don’t use either of them. I use the Australian Bureau of Meteorology custom integration.

I am assuming that you use the “Template Weather Provider” for that since I don’t see that provider explicitly listed here.

I always find myself in the minority…

Yeah, I use NWS in HA, and on my cell phone. Frankly, virtually every weather app I’ve seen just uses the NWS data via their API. It’s more a matter of personal preference how it’s displayed. Likewise for coastal marine weather applications, where there’s an element of life-or-death. The raw NWS data is the starting point, although there are sources which combine data from different agencies like Windy.

It’s a custom component for now. It may be added to the core in future:
