Hey! I am wondering what would be the cheapest / best option for dimming large office lights (led roof panels).
In most offices there’s a 3 Line of 3 Lights - we plan to dim it in 3 groups at least as that’s how they turn on too.
I was thinking of doing it the route of Shelly GEN 3 Dimmer Switches with which i could then use them as gateways too for Shelly Blu Motion Sensors, Shelly Door/Window Sensors.
The concept is something like this:
3 Gang Dimmer = Shelly 3Gen (it’s 2 channels)
I don’t understand your idea of dimming 3 channels with 2-ch dimmer.
Also you need to make sure the lights are dimmable with mains dimmer (trailing edge phase cut). Also consider Shelly’s max 150W limit.
They work by voltage control I’m just stuck unable to find a proper multi channel dimmer variant for office lightning. Or i would have to go 1 channel/line per module
I could be wrong but I think the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 is one channel. You can get a Shelly Pro Dimmer 1PM with 2 channels but you have to make sure you order the correct one (1 channel or 2) and this is din mounted so you would mount it in your switchboard run the power to you lights and run the switch wire to you wall switch.
With any Shelly you then have to think about how your going to dim it at the switch. You can have 2 buttons one for dim up and one for dim down. You can use one button press and hold dims up / release then press and hold again to dim down.
Then because it is a smart dimmer you need to think about how it will work smart. Lights ON when motion / mmwave sensor it detected. Time of day, ambient sensor, dynamic light control etc. My blueprints can help you out there.
I think you will need 3 off Shelly Dimmer Gen3 in the switch or you can opt for 2 off Shelly Pro Dimmer 1PM with 2 channels so you have one channel spare (nice to have) or you could get a 1 channel and a 2 channel = 3 channels. All depends on how you would like to wire it. Being an office space maybe the Shelly Pro Dimmer 1PM with 2 channels and locating them in the switchboard would be better for maintenance but make sure you have the room in your switchboard.
