Not sure even how to correctly describe this, but hope someone can help.
Since the recent updates to HA I have been having the weirdest behavior - when connecting to HA via Chrome browser the connection will randomly reset to whatever i opened the most recent in HA in the latest session. so it could be home dashboard, or if i am logging it it will kick be back to login page or sometimes it will bring me back to chrome “blank” start page. Sometimes it happens so often that it becomes impossible to do anything in HA. I suspect that this is something in how Chrome interacts with HA, but not really sure how to solve it.
What i have tried so far:
i have tried connecting to HA in chrome incognito mode and this actually seems to solve the issue or at least reduce it, but it’s annoying to keep doing that
i had suspected that it is Nordpass extension in chrome that might be breaking things so i disabled it for HA, but it did not solve the issue
i tried to clear the chache and reset runners, but that did not solve the issue
i have looked at HA logs but there really doesn’t seem to be anything weird there, and it actually works fine from other places such as HA app and so
i have looked at the resource usage and everything seems ok. the memory and cpu usage is very low
I am running HAOS on RPI5.
Would appreciate if anyone has any suggestions what to try next…
Try powering everything fully off, the normal shutdown way, not pulling the plug (so it has no power, not just a reboot) and see if that helps.
Do it twice.
So I tried reinstalling chrome (silly that i didn’t try it myself earlier tbh…). And it actually fixed the issue at first. Until i enabled norpass chrome extension. So it seems that running nordpass extension somehow messes up working with HA. Even though i have autofill disabled for HA specifically since i had a suspicion that it might be the issue, but it seems just having the extension running causes the Nordpass to do something that HA doesn’t like…
Deleting all HA passwords from nordpass seems to have solved it (at least up to now no resets).
Note that i had to clear my browser cache for HA after deleting passwords, else it was still acting up.
Update:
Nope, it is still acting up. after clearing the cache it seems to be stable for a period of time and then it starts resetting again after doing some things within HA
This doesn’t seem to work for me. Every time I open a device’s popup (more-info) and then close it, I get redirected to the previous page I was on. It behaves as if I had pressed the Back button in my browser.
Im having the same problem and only disabling the NordPass extension entirely in Chrome prevents this from happening. This only started recently. NordPass also started having authentication header issues recently which were plaguing me. However, resolving that (adding a “new” account to the desktop app that was the same email address as my existing account, and removing and reinstalling the chrome extension) did not fix this same HA/Nordpass interaction bug (going to a blank page after closing a popup for example). So I have no fix either right now except disabling NordPass which sucks.
ahah same here… Chrome and Edge, so i don’t think it’s a browser issue, it is the extension or ha. Is there any workaround except disabling the extension ?
I have the same issue that when closing any popup window the browser will go back to the last website accessed. To stop it without disabling Nordpass entirely, change the Site Access option in the extension details to On Click instead of On All Sites. This workaround stops the problem with Home Assistant Dashboard but you do have to click the NordPass toolbar button and choose refresh for each website you want to use NordPass on.
“Our developers are already aware of this issue and are working on a fix.
The fix should be released with future updates, however, we are unable to specify the ETA of when it will be done.”
