I’m currently using DuckDNS to access HA remotely, but don’t like exposing ports to the internet. I’m considering making the switch to a Cloudflare tunnel. However, I’m also running Pi-hole as my DNS server.
If I switch to Cloudflare, can I continue to use Pi-hole, or is there some restriction in Cloudflare that prevents using Pi-hole?
More info: HAOS and Pi-Hole are separate VMs running on Proxmox on a repurposed laptop. Assume I already have a domain name for use with Cloudflare. (I don’t, but I would:) )
Yes you can continue to use pihole. Pihole is still going to use a public DNS server to find your server, which will now be at Cloudflare.
Edit: I have still kept DuckDNS around because I also use it for a Minecraft server, and although you (apparently) can run this thru a CF tunnel, I have never gottten around to doing it. So you might want to consider if there’s any other software you run for which you need external access.
