Companion App frequently says „ Connection lost. Reconnecting...“

Hi everyone,

My Home Assistant installation is generally running perfectly. However, with the iOS app, I frequently get the message “Connection lost. Reconnecting…”

If I then completely close the app and reopen it, access is restored immediately. So I can’t detect any persistent connection problems.

The message only appears if the app has been running in the background for a while. When access is working, I can always swipe the app away and open it again without any problems after 1-5 minutes with a working connection. The message only appears after some time.

I’m accessing exclusively via the local IP address. There’s definitely no address conflict. Home Assistant and the clients are on the same subnet/VLAN.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I do have the same issue, but only on my iPad (which worked fine until yesterday and did not get better after today’s new app update). On my iPhone with the exact same settings everything’s fine.

Click your profile icon in the bottom left, scroll down to “User Settings” section & make sure Advanced mode is enabled. If it’s disabled, enable it & refresh the page just in case.

Now scroll down on that same page to the “Browser Settings” section & make sure that Suspend background connections is disabled.

Ouh… that’s a good advise! Disabled the function and will now wait and see what will happen. Thank you

Unfortunately, that didn’t help. :frowning:

Same issue here.

I can trigger the issue on demand by enabling/disabling an ‘Advanced Camera Card’ which appears/disappears via a condition.

When the card is enabled it works fine, and continues to. If I disable it and re-enable it the app loses connection until I restart the app.

Just to add, I’m also seeing this issue when accessing via Safari. It works fine until I try to load a camera, and then it disconnects and won’t reconnect until I’ve force closed Safari and opened again.
