Companion app giving access to the setting ONLY

Hi there,

I have installed the companion app on the Apple phone of my child for tracking …
He is logged in with his user “Alessio”, but I want to find a way to access the “settings” menu of the app ONLY, without giving access to the dashboards.
On the dashboards, I have limited the visibility so that he has no access … but still on the left side, he can still see the COMPLETE menu …

I want him to be able to see only the Companion app setting highlighted below (So that I can configure the app when I want from his phone … :

P.S. he is just an active user without the admin rights …
any idea how I can do that ?
Many Thanks !!

You can try this plugin to change sidebar items

Thanks a lot, but this option for the Companion app setting, called (I have it it French, trying to translate to English … “Companion app settings”) is only appearing from a mobile device … (but together with the other items from the left menu bar).

I do not see how “GitHub - elchininet/custom-sidebar: Custom HACS plugin that allows you to personalise the Home Assistant's sidebar per user or device basis” could show this option only ??

Also that means without that integration, the Companion app has no option on his own to hide all except his settings ?

Again, This is for the companion app installed on the mobile device of my Childs. I do not want the to access anything (Hacs, Studio code server, etc etc …) except the companion app settings menu.

Many Thanks !

I don’t even know how you got this item into the sidebar. In both ios and android I have to go through setting, then companion app. If you know the url, I think you can create a new entry with the url for this setting via custom sidebar

The sidebar items can be hidden by holding the top Title… Then you can optionally add or remove them from the menu.

There are no proper access controls in HASS beyond the owner/admin/user levels. The lowliest user still has access to tinker with a whole lot of things one may or may not want to allow. As of yet there is no proper/official way to prevent this, only various hacks which creative users may still find their ways around.
