Companion app (iOS) - Kiosk mode / Status bar

I’m using Home Assistant on my iPhone with Kiosk Mode enabled. The dashboard does extend underneath the iOS status bar area, but there is still a white background behind the time, Wi-Fi and battery icons.

What I would like to achieve: my hero/background image should extend all the way to the highest possible point of the iPhone screen, so also behind the iOS status bar.

I’ll attach two screenshots for reference:

  1. Screenshot of the HomeWizard app
This shows the background/hero image extending fully behind the iOS status bar. This is the effect I want to achieve.

  2. Screenshot of my Home Assistant dashboard
This shows that there is still a white area behind the iOS status bar. The background only starts below that area.

I’m already using Kiosk Mode, but apparently that is not enough to make the background truly fullscreen behind the iOS status bar.

Does anyone know if this is possible in Home Assistant, for example via a Companion App setting, theme/CSS, card-mod, custom card, kiosk-mode config, or something else?

Important: I do not want to hide the iOS status bar itself. The time, Wi-Fi and battery icons should stay visible. I only want the white background behind it to be replaced by my dashboard/hero image.

It seems that this is your same issue and this is the fix.
