Hi all,
My name is Remco. I have some basic experience with networking (NAS setup, port forwarding, etc.), but I’m still fairly new to Home Assistant.
I recently started using HA with a Home Green Smart Hub and I’m really impressed so far. I’m currently trying to integrate my FoxESS system to get more detailed insights and control.
I’ve installed HACS and added the FoxESS – Modbus integration (v1.13.6). The integration looks great, but I’m unable to get it working with my setup.
My system:
- FoxESS H3-10.0-Smart inverter
What I’ve tried:
- Verified internal IP address and port (502)
- Confirmed TCP is open
- Tried both S and F protocols
- Tested different inverter/slave IDs
- Tried various combinations in Network, Version, and Advanced settings
- Followed the Iam Eccles video guide
What happens:
- The integration loads
- I can see sensors and the inverter name
- But all values remain unavailable / no data is received
Error message:
Error connecting to inverter (friendly name: “Fox Ess”)
Error reading registers:
Type: RegisterType.HOLDING; start: 31000; count: 91; slave: 1
tcp://192.168.2.3:502
Modbus Error: [Input/Output] Modbus Error: [Invalid Message]
No response received, expected at least 8 bytes (0 received)
It seems like HA is not receiving any Modbus data, even though the connection settings appear correct.
I couldn’t find anyone with the same inverter model in the forum, so I’m hoping someone here has experience with the H3-10.0-Smart or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!
