Hello, in the past I have disabled integrations (example “energy”) before by removing default_config: from my configuration.yaml then manually adding the specific integrations I require.
Recently I have found an issue with this, new internal integrations such as the “AI task” integration do not seem to be included in the default_config: but are being loaded elsewhere. I also found that removing “conversations & assist_pipeline” have neither removed the UI element from the front end like energy is, nor affected the ability to use assist (it still works).
So I would like to ask (TLDR):
- How do I disable integrations entirely
- How do I remove them from the front end like I can with energy.
HW:
- Home assistant green
- Installation method - Home Assistant OS
Versions:
- Core - 2026.4.0
- Supervisor - 2026.03.2
- Operating System - 17.1
- Frontend - 20260325.5
- Companion app - 2026.3.2-full (20802)
Yeah, i’ve had same config as you for quite a while, of course with the same problem: when new part came i’ve had to manually add it or it didn’t appear in HA.
Then i found a “reversely operated” addon, where you only state what you DON’T want to have. Look at THIS HACS addon, perhaps it’s what you are after.
So does this disabled the AI tasks integration?
I can’t say for AI specifically, but it disables what you write into config. Instead of deleting “default_config” and manually enter all integrations you need (and easy forget one…) you only enter what you don’t want.
Honestly i didn’t explore AI yet, although i don’t use it, so i could remove it, yes. According to This list it could be “Assist_pipeline”.
Ah. Well like in my OP I removed that integration already and it did not remove AI tasks. I want to remove that integration specifically, I don’t mind manually adding the ones I require.
I wonder if AI can be removed at all…
Given it’s an internal integration I am sure it can be somehow. I sure hope so anyways. I don’t want this AI crap on my home assistant
