Configure ZBT-1 is not possible

Hello from Hamburg

I’m new to this forum and new to Home Automation.

First my system. I run the latest HA Version in a VM on my Synology D923+

  • Core: 2025.1.3
  • Supervisor: 2024.12.3
  • Operating System: 14.1
  • Frontend: 20250109.0

A few days ago I bought a ZBT-1.
Put it into my Synology. Mapping of the device without problems.
The next day I wanted to configure it.

Settings → System → Hardware

“The radio module firmware on your Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 could not be determined. Make sure that no other integration or add-on is currently trying to communicate with the device. If Home Assistant OS is running in a virtual machine or in Docker, please make sure that the permissions for the device are set correctly.”

No Idea how solve this issue. :sleepy:
Maybe one you guys can help.

Can you provide logs to help give us a clue ?

Early suspicion is that either the device is not passed through fully or another process has it locked

Hi _dev_null

Thanks for your reply.
Attached some protocols. :slight_smile

Hi @thor040175

Sorry I had to get some lunch but the logs are interesting… seems like the device is changing, almost like it’s being unplugged and plugged in again

switching between ttyUSB0 and ttyUSB1
ie usb 2-1 and usb 2-2

Can you ensure that the device is static in a single dedicated USB slot ?

No Problem.
Thank you.
That’s the HOST Protocol right?
Might be possible that I changed the stick from the back to the front.
I just restarted the system after update.
And there is no ZBT to see. I will unplug it and put it in again. …

I took it out and back again.
Can I send u the log later? Im at the train now.

But it not possible that it is a time zone problem? I saw the was 16 … when it was 17…
I use my fritz!box as time server and in the settings of HA is Berlin selected.:thinking:

Sorry, I don’t understand.

You need to keep the ZBT plugged in, never unplug it whilst HA is running.
Keep it plugged into the same USB slot on the host. Reboot HAOS and see how you get on

Ok. Did it. Left in the USB port and restarted the OS. There is tty=(none) I assume that is the USB?
Here’s my log

And as I said there is a different time in the log than the real time. There is one hour missing.

Thanks,

I’m out this evening, will take a look when I’m back

Cool. Have a good one. Read us tmrw.

Logs look fine.
Are you saying that HA can’t find the ZBT stick ?
Your stick is not affected by this is it ?

I just checked mine and it’s odd that I removed my skyconnect dongle (it was not even configured) months ago yet I see this ?

Do you see the stick in the all hardware list ?

Hey there.
I bought my stick a few days ago. So not affected.

As you can see in my pic the stick is visible.

No. :frowning:
In the all Hardware list can’t see the stick.

I’m still wondering if this could be a problem.

Does it come from the VM? The settings and system are synchron.

Is the USB stick recognized in the hypervisor

Pushed via the Hypervisor, make sure your TZ is set correctly in HA too. I don’t think the TZ is an issue

How can I check it it’s recongnized there?

You’ll have to check with Synology. I have no experience with it I’m afraid.

If it has a shell you can access then commands dmesg and lsub may help

@thor040175 did you also check this thread ?

yes I checked the post. that is for sticks bought before 10/24

Made a shutdown in the HA GUI and started the VM again from my DSM.

looks good so far.
Thanks for your help have a great week.

Patience is the secret. :angel:t3:

Perfect… I also run HAOS in a VM under proxmox and ensure that the USB sticks are always in order and never unplugged

Best regards
