Connect to Shelly password protected devices

There is a Shelly configured with protected access. (Settings/Authentication/Enable password protected device)
Is there a way to include this device into HA? (without remove the password protection) Can I insert the password somewhere in HA?

There are 3 places for a password in the Shelly: One is for MQTT set up. The second is for the access point so you can connect to it from a web browser and make changes to its settings. The third is for WiFi to join it to your WiFi network. I don’t think Home Assistant cares about the access point - as long as it’s been joined to your WiFI network it should be discovered by HA. Log into the access point and make sure the WiFI is configured with the SSID and password and it should show up in HA Integrations, assuming you have installed the Shelly Integration.

Hm, I thought I described the place correct. At Shelly WebUI: (Settings/Authentication/Enable password protected device)
I don’t talk about MQTT … and I did not talk about WIFI or the Shelly internal AP …

I can reach the Shelly via Browser and the configured IP. So the connection is possible. Then I have to authenticate at the Shelly (because I have configured this). This is OK and not the question.

I ask if it is possible to insert the needed password somewhere into HA. I have an other Shelly where I have not enabled the authentication and this device can be found and integrated by HA. The devices where the protection is enabled can not integrated into HA.

Does the Shelly show up at all as a discovered device in HA? What model and version of Shelly is it? Is the Shelly on the same subnet as your HA server?

None of my Shelly devices have a menu at Settings - Authentication. I do have 2 options in my older Shellie’s that may apply:

  1. At “Settings” - “Device Discoverable”, the box is checked.
  2. At “Internet and Security” - “Advanced Developer Settings” the option for “Enable CoIoT” is checked.
  3. Under that same “Enable CoIoT” option the “CoIoT peer:” field contains the IP address of my HA server with the format: 192.168.0.167:5683

Yes, it works out of the box. You just need the Shelly integration Shelly - Home Assistant

You will be asked for the password then.

OK, so my firmware (1PMGen4 FW: 1.7.0) seems newer. ColoT and the other menu options are not at the device in question.

How is the way HA discovert/connect to Shelly? The Shelly here has an IP and is reachable at this IP (http://192.168.0.200) via browser.
I am wondering that the device is ‘seen’ (I get an Hint in HA that there is a new Shelly found) but unable to connect. Because I have already configured the Shelly, its local AP and BT/BLE is disabled. Is one of them needed to integrate the Shelly?

Paste here a screenshot of the “hint” that a new Shelly is found in HA. Have you clicked on that message and does it prompt you for a password?

Maybe this is related to your issue?
