Connecting 68 HVAC Thermostats via Modbus to Home Assistant on Android or Windows 10

Message:

Hello,

I am working on integrating 68 HVAC thermostats via Modbus into Home Assistant, and I need some help with the setup. Here’s the system topology:

  • Each thermostat has an HVAC Modbus slave controller connected to a master economizer.
  • There are 3 floors, each with two boards, and each board has two IP addresses. All the master economizers are connected to these boards.
  • Essentially, I have 6 IP addresses and specific codes from the installers for the system.

The setup is a bit messy, and what I’m aiming for is the ability to switch all thermostats from winter mode to summer mode and adjust the temperature individually for each room. I am not interested in anything else at the moment, just the basic control of these thermostats.

System Details:

  • HVAC slave controller connected to a master economizer, which is in turn connected to a TCP/IP acquisition board.
  • The boards are connected to a switch, and there are 6 such boards in total.

I already have the IPs for these boards. Could you please help me with the correct topology and offer an explanation, or even a procedure for setting this up? I have some knowledge of electronics and can build components if necessary, and I am also learning C++ quickly.

Thank you in advance for your help!
