I received a free energy bridge from Consumers Energy (Western part of Michigan) and I am curious how to integrate it into HA. When I poked around in the app I see a setting for Smart Meter and under that is ZigBee information with a Mac Address and an Install Code. Then under Connected Devices I see a reset your Z-Wave network and Enter Exclusion Mode. So is it Z-Wave or ZigBee or something else entirely? Has anyone else dealt with this from their own electric company? I have started manually documenting different utilities and their power usage but I would like to be able to do more than just look at what my utility provides in their app.
In SE corner (with CE), looking for info on what an “energy bridge” is. They installed the smart meter some time ago so guessing it’s not that, but there’s no other device.
Not that I don’t appreciate their efforts in making the app, it just seems useless to me as the overall info is already available on their site. Like when the coffee maker comes on, the usage spike is already expected. Other loads likewise.
So just don’t see the point in their app, but would like to know what constitutes their “Energy Bridge.”
