this is a topic where I mostly ask for a new idea, because my own haven’t worked.
I want to control a outside marquise with a motor. Basically it is one of those types which are removable on each balcony. It will be pinched between the roof and the floor of my balcony.
My plan was to install a tubular motor with zigbee and control it from home assistant, but because of the shape of the shaft I can’t get the motor in. I have tested a Zemismart ZM25EL which don’t fit and a ZM16EL which fit, but has not enough power to move the web, which is 2,5m x 1,4m long.
So I need a new idea, maybe I can attach a motor to the gearbox of the crack handle. Would be great I you can share some thoughts with me.
Thank you, I will attach some pics to show the gearbox and the shaft.
Thanks for the input. I have considered such kind of motors, but I haven’t figured out some questions.
Where do the motor know which way to turn, left or right?
There seems no way to stop it with a switch if it would be full in or out
Maybe an automation with time, so motor on for 10 second would be possible.
What I have red. 10-15nm should be enough and I think it is important that the motor turns quite slowly 30rpm or so.
I will ask a friend of mine, how to control the motor.
Thanks
For a DC-motor, one polarity makes it turn one direction, flipping it changes direction.
Easiest DIY setup is probably Esphome devboard, limit switches and a motor driver.
Another option could be smart switch like Shelly 2PM and two relays to swap the polarity.
Or go with mains powered AC-motor and Shelly 2PM.
