Controlling a receiver through HA, experiences?

Guys i am considering buying a new receiver and was aiming to get the Onkyo TX-NR676E.
One of my buying criteria is the ability to control it through HA. I want to be able to turn sound on/off, switch inputs and turn it on off.
Another possibility is the Denon AVRS930H considering the HEOS speakers that make it a great possibility, only need the HA control though.

Is that reachable with this amplifier or is another model a better buy? (noticed that some pioneers and denons are supported aswell?)

In Short: What are the experiences with controlling receivers through HA?

Hmmmm. I would not make the built in ha compatibility the main reason for buying a receiver. Go for the model that sounds best to your ears. Control can always be achieved using harmony or broadlink, if it is not supported natively.

Just my 2c

I have an onkyo, can’t remember which model and can you control is fine. I however normally control it from the TV using cec.

Thanks for the replys. It isnt my main buying poiny but if possible it would be on the pro’s list for buying

@truxntrax Is it one of the more recent models?

About 2 years old. I’ll check when I get home. I don’t use in in any automation, but the bit of testing/playing everything works.

For my automation I have a dedicated always on not smart lepai amp. Cheap as chips and fine for kitchen ceiling speakers. I agree with an earlier post, buy an amp to match your audio/ video requirements, automating it can be achieved in many ways.

I like Onkyo TX-NRxxx amps

Integrates directly to HA
Control looks similar to Chromecast and allow input, volume and on/off control. Been using for a while without issue.

I have 2012 model and it seems not to like wifi with my vlan setup but prior to vlan wifi was perfect

I also like surround modes on this amp. Many amp have no All Channel Stereo mode.

Newer Only models have Chromecast functionality built in I believe.

I think most newer home theater equipment is controllable by IP control which is at least as good as the ir remote. It requires no special hardware and is easy to setup.

Mine is txnr 515. Does everything I need.

Thanks all for the responses!

Think i am going with the denon X2400H in the end. Like the sound and the HEOS support. Anyone with experience with that one?
