We have a 1000L boiler for sanitary purposes and underfloor heating. There are two ways to heat the water: by burning wood in a woodstove with water connection to the boiler and second with a 9kW heat element. We have a controlpanel in the livingroom with a layout for the week when to turn on the heat element. I want to take over this control in HA, but no idea how to. Is it possible? Thanks for any suggestions.
Need details of device your are controlling
My guess is you can likely get an esp relay and use that to ON/OFF whatever you are needing to control
You may add temperature sensor to same device or use separate temperature sensors to monitor water temp
You may be able to control heating with standard thermostat as well.
An automation may be used to turn ON/OFF based on temperature.
If you use esp device the automation should likely be done on the esp or you should have safety OFF after xx minutes to prevent damage to home/equipment. You don’t want network to go down and device to remain on as result. It should have some on device control to ensure OFF will always occur.
There are many users doing this and ask/answer this question. Search HA forum for idea as well.
