Controlling Viessmann Vitodens Gas Heater Boilers locally (new models 100-W, 200-W, ... after 2018)

I just stumbled over this thread because I am looking for a local remote control for a Viessmann Vitodens too.
It gets a bit criss-crossed after a few posts, but I think most of it refers to Optolink.

For boilers without optolink here is what I would resume this thread to:

  • OpenTherm seems to be in the making and involves that the complete temperature/weather control has to be redone.

  • Hacking the WiFi is near impossible

Has anyone thought about using bluetooth to remotely control the boiler?

However, here’s another approach to a local remote control:

hey all,

I have been reading this post in earlier weeks and I acquired a lot of useful information on how to get my VITOCAL 200S AWB heatpump integrated into HomeAssistant, so thanks.

After a long winding road, I ended up with my own (software) spin for the Optolink interface:

GitHub - f18m/viessmann-optolink2mqtt: Open source interface between a Viessmann device (heat pump, gas heater, etc) and MQTT

I’m referencing this here in case this is of any help to others still trying to figure out the best way to speak to Viessmann devices
Hope this helps…
