I have successfully integrated a Smart Life water heater switch into home assistant using the Tuya IOT cloud development platform. After one month it seems my trial has ended and they want me to pay $ 25000.00 a year for the Flagship addition to continue!!! How do I get round this???
Buy anything but tuya
Aside a +1 for @nickrout … this is a known issue, have a look at many (!) other posts for workarounds
Unfortunately the only Smart Water Heater that fits my needs uses SmartLife as the app. I have contacted Tuya and to be fair they replied almost immediately showing me a way to extend my trial for another six months.
Sorry - I am new to HA and finding most things above my (very limited) skill set. Am I looking forTuya Local or what??
And would this enable me to do away with Tuya IoT cloud??
Nope…you always need the id and for that the dev-cloud…do search the other posts as no point in repeating all of them here
Nope can’t find it - obviously I don’t know what I should be searching for - I said I was dim!! Just one link to a post about it would be very very welcome!!!
Tuya local doesn’t work without tuya cloud as I know. Tuya local is just a scam making people believe that they can have tuya wifi devices on local control.
But they don’t. You need device id to set it up. You can get device id from tuya iot platform. But if you remove your device from tuya iot platform tuya local won’t work. If you disable access for tuya device on their cloud, device will go nuts because it can’t report to ccp.
If you can, sell it, trash it whatever, but don’t buy tuya wifi devices.
Why does anyone even mention using Tuya to connect things? Something tells me that nobody here is paying $25,000 to integrate a hand full of devices with home assistant. Seems I just went down a dead end with Costco Feit switches, reflashing is above my pay grade.
A few years ago you could extend the trail period and keep things going. But eventually, Like I did you hit the end of their wall and they won’t extend anymore. This is only a problem with Tuya devices that are not supported in the Tuya intergration. Many are.
NOTE: use the HACS intergration “Tuya Local” and NOT Local Tuya. You may get around some of this issue. This is what worked for me.
Or just stop buying tuya crap.
