CUPS and automation

I am trying to create an automation to print a test page once a week so my ink dosent dry out. I have spent way to much time on this already. I have the Home assistant add on installed and running. I have a Canon G3272 and using a Generic IPP driver from inside the CUPS server. When a do a test page from CUPS, it wakes my printer up but never prints anything . I am thinking this is one reason why my automation isn’t working. My Automation incluses a shell cammand to print a PDF at a certin date/ time ever week. I seems to run but again, nothing prints. In dev tools, its not working either and the response is:
stdout: “”
stderr: “/bin/sh: lp: not found”
returncode: 127

I have done many google searchs and I can’t figure it out . Any ideas?

There are hundreds of Home Assistant Apps (formerly known as add-ons).
Which ever one you are trying to use, since it is software separate from Home Assistant, you may be better off asking where you got that app.

We don’t have enough information to advise you here.

If you have an automation or a shell command that you need help with, we need to know what it is to help you as well.
If you want some help on how to ask a good question to get help from more people, read thru this post: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/how-to-help-us-help-you-or-how-to-ask-a-good-question/
Also the editor you posted your message into has a built=in spell checker, if a word is highlighted red you can click it and it usually gives you suggestions.
As you can see I depend on that a lot myself…

Are you sure you need to do this? Canon cartridges are parked when not in use, their business end where the ink is squirted out is capped, otherwise they would dry out in minutes. When necessary, the firmware will initiate a cleaning cycle. It often does this at the end of a print job. If you have concerns, a service may be necessary, the waste ink pad may be soaked and need cleaning/replacing. How old is your printer, and has it been heavily used?

You may be unnecessarily wasting valuable printer ink, the most expensive fluid in the universe.

If you insist on doing this, what is the code you are using? Please post it in properly forum </> formatting for readability.

What app have you installed, or are using?

What device name have you configured in cups and ipp?

It would have been nice to see the input, not just the output. This is probably the key to your woes.
