Custom component disk usage abnormal

Hello,
my disk space increased abnormally in the last weeks.

Is it possible to understand how to investigate about the 8.1GB of custom component?

I tried to run on terminal custom component the following command:

du -ah . | sort -rh | head -20
1.4G .
507.5M ./var/log/journal/551a6d3380a54e18a151c52a8f4c7113

507.5M ./var/log

276.4M ./backup
266.5M ./homeassistant
157.5M ./homeassistant/home-assistant_v2.db
131.7M ./usr/lib
99.4M ./backup/Automatic_backup_2025.2.1_2025-02-15_01.25_13034059.tar
82.4M ./usr/share
80.3M ./usr/bin
78.9M ./backup/a5dd781a.tar
54.2M ./homeassistant/custom_components
51.4M ./homeassistant/custom_components/hacs
50.5M ./homeassistant/custom_components/hacs/hacs_frontend
42.8M ./backup/abb59afa.tar
37.0M ./usr/lib/python3.12
30.7M ./usr/share/vim

but it seems that i can’t find the 8.1GB…

Any help?
Thanks in advance

How many back-ups are you storing in the system drive?
How big is your homeassistant.db?

homeassistant/home-assistant_v2.db size is 150.8 MB

Running the usual SQL query i’ve

I’ve cleaned a lot of backups and now I’ve 13 backups left.

Reboot the host computer as there may be a bunch of junk in the tmp. Otherwise the count of backups is hign, database size is good.
I say more than like a half dozen backups is not going to help you on the system drive. really more than 3 actually. If you have a crash you will want one of the more recent ones and it is 50-50 if you crash that you will even be able to get to the system drive to pull a backup. Keep your 2 weeks + of backups on a NAS somewhere.

I’ve restarted it and now this is the situation:

My concern is how to see inside the 8GB of the custom component data (yellow bar) in order to understand the “memory hog”.

Question: can ESPHome sensor logging be mapped as custom component data? I’ve a luxmeter that provides lux data every 2s…

Found the root cause of 8GiB wasted space: it was caused by EspHome build environment that left a huge amount of files/data for previous build updates. Cleaning it and I restored a decent situation:

I hope that my experience could help someone.
Thanks anyway for the previous replies.
