Custom gas sensor when water is running

Hello,

I’m from the Netherlands, i have an DSRM reader (p1) with an gas sensor. sensor.gas_consumption

And also have an water sensor sensor.water_meter_total_consumption.

I would like to know how many gas is going to heating my home and how many gas goes to warm water.
Is there an way to create an customer GAS sensor that will show the M3 gas when there is water running?

So i can seperate the gas usage for the home and for the heating.

And what if you flush the toilet or use a washing machine while the heater is on? Water being used while gas is consumed is not exactly a straight relation. In case of the washing machine, you’re even likely to use electricity to heat water, not the gas.

Also most kettles have a small boiler that they are heating to produce warm water quickly. That won’t show up as water isn’t being consumed. Maybe look at Tado or the like to get more info out of your heating system?

If you want to get an idea how much gas is going to water, look at your summer gas consumption compared to winter, as you’re not doing any heating in the winter. That is, if you’re not cooking on gas.And I guess cooking gas use is fairly constant for all, so you’ll probably be able to find averages on that to get some idea.

Hi, the only hot water is in the bathroom for the shower and bath. In the kitchen its an quooker without hot water option and the we have induction for cooking.

So correct the washing machine or flush of the toilet when the CV is running will be an false positive. But i will accept it.

Are these entities utility meter integrations?

sensor.water_meter_total_consumption
sensor. sensor.gas_consumption

If so you can add two tariffs to the gas meter, one for heating and one for hot water.

You then switch the tariff using an automation that monitors the water utility meter status attribute. It will be status: collecting when the water is running and status: paused when not.

Hi Tom_L,

Yes they are, can you please help with the configuration with the creation of the custom filter?

Filter?

There is no filter.

  • add two tariffs to the gas meter, one for heating and one for hot water.
  • switch the tariff using an automation
