Easy Sidebar Pro adds collapsible groups to the Home Assistant sidebar, and you organise them right inside the sidebar: press the pencil next to the title, drag rows, and drop one item onto another to create a group.
What’s in it:
Groups with a name and icon; click to fold. A folded group holding the page you’re on is highlighted.
Edit mode in the sidebar itself: drag to reorder, drop onto a row to group, drop onto a header to add, hide / show panels, rename, ungroup. Done / Cancel. Works with touch and with the keyboard (Alt + arrows).
Per user, stored in Home Assistant (not the browser), so your layout follows you to every device and the companion app.
Admin default layout for the household; anyone can go back to it.
Plays well with HA’s own “Edit sidebar” dialog: hiding and reordering there are kept.
No flicker: groups are drawn as part of HA’s own sidebar. Hebrew and English, right to left.
HA 2026.6 or newer; no YAML.
How it differs from Sidebar Organizer: you edit in the sidebar itself (not a separate dialog), groups are made by dropping one item on another, and layouts are stored per HA user on the server.
Very nice technical approach!
But for now I am missing the styling options and the settings to collaps the groups and the bottom card options (grid) from sidebar organizer.
Thank you for the fast reply.
I actually use a different theme (ios Theme) for the sidebar than for my dashboard (liquid glass).
But I made the background of the group button lighter to get more contrast and use I the rounding.
I have a main group that starts open while the other 2 start closed. Only one group open at a time.
And I have 4 Buttons in a bottom row.
Thanks for the screenshot @Fugazzy! Good news on your main wish: Easy Sidebar Pro stores the layout in Home Assistant itself, per user, so it’s the same on every device and the companion app with nothing to copy. As admin you can also press Set as default for everyone to roll it out to the whole household.
v0.3.0 is out with:
per-group colours and icon colours,
a rounded pill header style (lighter on dark themes, like yours),
one group open at a time, groups start collapsed, and a per-group starts open switch,
a pinned icon grid at the bottom of the sidebar.
So your setup (main group open, the others closed, 4 buttons at the bottom) can be rebuilt 1:1 in the editor. Update in HACS, restart, refresh the browser. Let me know how it goes!
Hey, that was fast!
I switched to v0.3.0 and it really works fantastic! For now I tested it on a desktop and on my iPhone with my user. Different users need to wait till the evening.
UX got a big jump with this one now working!
I noticed just a small optical issue: On small screens the background of the active group get smaller than the none active ones, while on large screens these are well aligned. (even if you make the browser window small)
One more thing:
I would like to suppress the visibility of the number of entities in a group.
