[Custom Integration] FoxESS Plant Integration

I thought I would share this, not quite ready for a full release yet but I have been working on this integration. I wanted to remove the Fox ESS app from my installation and go completely HA and remove all "cloud" access to my device as I don't really want my houses power out there on the Internet!

I have an Evo 10, so this is built for that BUT it uses the Fox Ess Modbus integration as it's data layer so in theory should work with other models providing they expose the correct sensors, and hopefully others can help to expand it once in the wild.

I did a massive amount of work on Nathans Modbus integration for the Evo and am just working out a couple of bugs in the writing back schedules and force charging then will PR that back in. Basically I have now added 130+ sensors worth of data to the integration, it has everything you see exposed on the Fox app but on the modbus now which then allowed me to write this plugin so that you hopefully don't lose any features compared to the "cloud".

The plugin itself was originally designed to mimic the Fox app, but then I couldn't resist adding to it so as well as all of it's features you also have the following additions:

Google Weather "Storm Safe" integration - similar idea to Fox but using Google Weather OR custom triggers to enable storm based charging to keep the plant charged in the case of an outage.

Solcast integration - This is integrated directly, polling 10 times a day from sunrise to sunset spread out equally along the day, adding the data directly to the charts and storing the data cached inside HA.

Tariff integration - For now there are going to be 3 methods to bring tariff data in, existing sensors for import/export and standing charge, 4 different time periods you can manually specify throughout the day, or finally API integration which at present is for Octopus Agile

"Smart Charging" - Now we have Solcast and Weather data as well as "Agile" tariff data for those on Octopus, this feature which is in progress is to maximise either maximum profit from your solar energy, or savings depending on how much solar there is available in your area, it will also integrate with "Storm Safe" so if it sees a storm coming up it takes energy at the lowest rate and focuses on cost saving, whilst keeping the battery at a high level of charge to ensure it is available if you have a power cut (Providing you have EPS configured on your device).

If you want to play it is on my GitHub so let me know, and any feedback or ideas I am always open to them as this started out as a simple idea, then I got fed up of the Fox App and just decided to make my own!

The Fox Plant app

This is amazing - I've just had an EVO10 installed (standalone - I have separate solar through a Solax inverter), and I found this integration which just worked after typing in the Fox IP address of the WLAN adapter.

I plan to connect this via wired LAN, but would I benefit from going the MODBUS adapter route instead? I have 128 entities discovered, so it seems to have everything. Is there an advantage to the MODBUS connection?

Just checked out your Fox Plant dashboard too. You've done a great job replicating the Fox app.

My only issue is that because my solar is generated outside the Fox system, the original Fox app sees this as "Gen load" not "Solar", but your dashboard doesn't see it at all. Not sure if this is fixable?
