[Custom Integration] Voltronic / Vevor hybrid solar inverter (PI30) – local polling via RS232-to-TCP, PV energy, settings control

Hi all,

I’d like to share a custom integration for Voltronic-compatible hybrid solar inverters (PI30 protocol: Axpert / MPP Solar / Vevor and similar). I developed it on a Vevor GD5548JMH (reports as VMII-4000, 24 V / 4000 W, firmware 00040.09) and publish it in the hope that it is useful to others, and to find out how it behaves on other models.

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

How it connects

Local polling only, no cloud. The inverter’s RS232 port is reached through an RS232-to-TCP gateway (e.g. Elfin EW10/EE10, 2400 baud 8N1, transparent TCP server, port 8899). If you don’t have a gateway, the repo also contains ESPHome configs and a wiring guide for an ESP32 + MAX3232 that works as the TCP bridge (or as standalone firmware).

What you get

  • Live sensors: grid / AC output / battery / PV voltages, currents, frequencies, power (VA / W), load %, four temperatures, mode, charge stage
  • PV energy today / month / year / total (kWh) from the inverter’s own counters, usable directly in the Energy dashboard
  • Recorder-friendly power sensors: a raw sensor for fast dashboards plus a smoothed one that writes few rows to the database (PV power also has a 10-min median and “max today”)
  • Settings and ratings, warnings and faults (one binary sensor per warning bit), inverter clock and clock drift
  • Controls: switches for option flags, selects for output / charger priority, numbers for charge currents and voltage thresholds

Install

  1. HACS → ⋮ → Custom repositories → add the GitHub URL above, type Integration (or use the button).
  2. Download Voltronic Solar Inverter, restart Home Assistant.
  3. Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → Voltronic Solar Inverter → enter the gateway host and port.

Requires Home Assistant 2025.8+.

Please read: status and limitations

  • Early release (0.4.0), tested on exactly one unit. Reading all values is verified on the Vevor GD5548JMH; on other models or firmware some readings may differ.
  • Changing settings is at your own risk. The control entities send setting commands straight to the inverter. Not every command has been confirmed on the real device yet (status per command is in the docs). Check every change on the inverter’s display.
  • The gateway serves one client at a time, so stop other tools (vendor app, scripts) while the integration runs.
  • PV values are not yet verified with the array producing at full power.

Feedback wanted

  • Does it work on your model (Axpert, MPP Solar, Voltacon, EASUN, other Vevor, …)? Please post the model string, firmware and what works / doesn’t.
  • Which sensors or settings are missing?
  • If something looks wrong, open a GitHub issue and attach the integration diagnostics download (Device → ⋮ → Download diagnostics).
