DALI vs Wiz?

I have the option to put a ton of lights onto a wired Dali2 network or use Wiz. I like that Dali is wired, but I know I’ll need to source a bridge (I’m in the US). On the other hand, Wiz seems nice because it will be connected with less effort, but I worry about its support in the long run and reliability being on wifi.

Any anecdotes or advice to help me decide?

Hi @dgrnbrg ,

I know it has been a while since you posted, not sure if you made a decision yet.

Myself I’m also looking into the Dali system, what I see so far in the HA community is not a clearcut integration.

What I see as Pro’s for DALI are:

  • Wired, quick communication
  • Once programmed it will also work without any ‘central’ hub like HA
  • Proven technology

Cons I see so far:

  • the most important one: ‘complicated’ integration with HA via MQTT, can all features be unlocked?
  • rather expensive to have the first setup
  • availability → hard to find good vendors

Would be interested what you think. @wolfmar80 maybe also wants to chime - in?
