Dashboard edit buttons in CarPlay

Sorry to say but idea of permanent edit buttons on carplay dashboards is ridiculous.
They take screen estate. They look the same as other HA entities.
Finally these are intended to be used once and never again.

Look at the screnshot and judge yourself.

Not speaking about doubtful usability while a phone sits your pocket, providing better user experience than many in-car displays

Totally agree. Makes no sense, here I’m hoping this gets fixed soon enough…

Lol, I looked at the screenshot first and thought, “WTH? Who thought it was a good idea to put these giant ‘Edit’ and ‘Add Item’ cards on the dashboard?”

I don’t understand either.
I raised an issue having a luck to get an answer. they do not however agree with us that it’s bad design decission.

The good news is, that I convinced devs to add option to disable these buttons. Supposingly it’s already implemented.
My colleagues make a comment joking that we hope it won’t be another button on this dashboard

I mainly use the HA CarPlay app to open my garage and gate. All the other times Waze/Google Maps is open.

I was rather shocked when I saw two permanent buttons that can be accidentally pressed during driving.

If I want to edit actions, which I change maybe once a year, I can do it from my phone, which is needed anyway for CarPlay to work.

This should be an optional feature. Cars dont need more unnecessary buttons to their already distracting digital displays.

I can confirm that HA app available through the Testflight has an option to disable edit buttons.

Also an option to create own tabs/dashboards next to QuickView is available. It’s great if one wants to organize entities viewed/controlled from the car
