Thanks, Phil.
I managed to use the suggested regex to handle the media title replacement. Works great, thanks.
However, I’m still fighting with the pre-defined groups not displaying correctly (I’ve re-read the documentation and done numerous Google searches).
Firstly, let’s see if I fully understand how this is designed to work to make sure I’m not a complete idiot.
If I create one or more pre-defined groups (e.g. “Upstairs Only”, “Downstairs Only” and “Whole House” that respectively have sub-sets of Sonos speakers, with the last having all the speakers), there should be three ‘groups’ displayed in the Group window and I should be able to select from one of those groups, and it would make that collection of speakers active. Correct assumption?
However, regardless of whether I have one or more pre-defined groups, all I get is just a list of all my speakers. I’ve tried removing all groups from the Sonos app on my phone, and I’ve also tried recreating Sonos groups with the same names (e.g. Whole House and Upstairs Only) - doesn’t make any difference.
I’m running the latest beta version.
(The code below just shows one pre-defined group: Whole House.
It looks like you are not showing the Grouping section, that is where you actually use predefined groups.
Hey Phil (and everyone) - thanks for such a robust card and a great tool here. I have what is probably an “edge” case but I am striking out trying to figure out how to make this work.
I’m gonna go light on the details that (I think) don’t matter, but if you need more let me know.
Trying to design a dashboard using your card that allows me to start playback and add/remove speakers via buttons (eventually via a blueprint “map” of the home).
For the most part this all works - where I run into trouble (I believe) is when I’m switching “away” from the coordinator or first speaker I added. When I do that, the display and what the speakers are doing gets “out of sync.”
For example:
Start playing music on speakers A. Add speaker B. No issue.
Add C. No issue. Remove B/C - no issues.
Now if I add B back still works. BUT when I try to remove A and just leave B playing … it works but the sonos card still stays stuck on card A. It does show title as “A” instead of “A+B” but now my card won’t control the still active music in zone B.
What I want is it to “follow” me to the new zone/new coodinator.
I’m not sure if this is being drive by the URL (the first zone I picked to start this stays in the URL bar) and if so can I suppress it? Or is there another way to make it follow me and keep control of the music now on speaker B?
Really apprecaite any insight…
I was using Sonos Card beta 10.6 for a little bit and everything seemed to be working pretty well. I upgraded to 10.10 today and lost the ability to show the favorites icon in the common section? I have it selected but I can’t get it to display? Anyone else experiencing this? If I revert back to 10.6 it reappears?
Thanks for trying out the beta! Things change a lot between beta versions, so make sure to read the breaking changes and readme.
In your case, the section is now called “media browser” again. My guess is you have “favorites” there, which should be replaced.
Interesting case, please create an issue on GitHub and we’ll dig deeper!
EDIT: I manually swapped out the “- favorites” with “- media browser” in the code editor and the icon has reappeared. Fo
I see the media browser listed in across the top of the configuration, however in the “sections” area all I see is Favorites and when I select that option it doesn’t display the icon below the player to select. Am I doing something wrong?
Phil - This new v.10 is shaping up to be the best yet! One quick question, is it possible to set a defined group as default when loading the card? I see an option to set a single speaker/entity, but I don’t see the ability to set a group in the common section configuration?I’m trying to make it wife approved, lol. Thanks!
Glad to hear!
Just set it to the main speaker in the group.
Thank you @PunxsutawneyPhil. I did as you requested and will follow there.
Not sure if this is a “bug” but cannot figure how to get the desired behavior.
Just set it to the main speaker in the group.
Thanks for the quick reply Phil! I have created a predefined group in the card that consists of Office(main-speaker)/Bedroom and named it “Upstairs” but when I select Office (the main speaker as suggested) as the default, it only plays on that one.
Is there any way to make a group as the default?
The group must already be grouped for it to work.
Maybe I’m missing it, but I can’t figure out how to add to my favorites from the Spotify app now. I have some items in there but can’t see how to add more. This was in the IOS app and on the website.
It must be done in the Sonos app
Awesome, thank you! When they say “app” I thought they meant the Spotify app.
