I was running a ConBee II on a Raspberry Pi for years. Barely had any issues. But for about a year now, I’ve witnessed various connectivity issues. Devices stopping to report data and commands taking 1-2 seconds or even timing out due to MAC ACCESS problems. Moving it further away from SSDs or WiFi didn’t help at all.
Lately, it even had problems talking to a device just 1 metre from the USB dongle.
Two weeks ago, I was fed up and looked into it. Made sure it was on the latest firmware - which it was. Moved the ConBee from channel 15 to the - according to a zigpy-cli scan - much more quiet channel 25. Even while repairing the devices it showed the odd communication problem. And now on the new channel, things didn’t really improve even though there was much less noise.
So, I’ve ordered a Sonoff dongle, flashed the ember firmware someone else mentioned in another thread. And since setting that one up, there are no issues at all and everything is working like it used to again.
My theory is that the ConBee had some component failing or fatiguing which slightly detuned it and caused all the interference issues.
Is there anyone else that witnessed similar issues that were gone with a new dongle?
