Depreciated states

I have an automation that triggers a scene that uses a transition to dim/brighten a light.

and this is the scene:

          brightness: 200

I’d like to keep using a transition if possible. Can I do this with just an automation? Automation+script? Automation+scene+script? The documentation doesn’t seem like it’s caught up with the change yet, but I’d like to use get this figured out so it doesn’t just stop working one day when HA updates.

Transition is not a state.

You can to do it with just the automation:

Thank you! I couldn’t figure this out. I was missing service: light.turn_on I had tried to use device.

Yeah scenes just translate states into services.

I’m not familiar with the new device automations as they are meant to be configured with the UI.
