Detect and Control Ring Security System Devices via Z-Wave

I’ve got a Ring security system and am wondering if it is possible to detect/control the keypads, sensors and other Ring devices via Z-Wave. I can access the system via the Ring-MQTT with Video Streaming app by tsightler but would like to try via Z-wave. I’ve got the Z-Wave JS UI up and running but all the only device it sees is the Zooz usb dongle. I’ve tried adding a device manually but no luck. I’m wondering if once a device is added to the Ring security system, that the Ring system somehow “locks” it so that it can’t be accessed another way.

Any thoughts/input would be appreciated.

Hi, I’m wondering this too. I have some Ring glass break sensors that, in the directions, it says they can connect to “any Z-Wave network”, but I have had no success adding them to my Aeotec Z-Stick 10 on Home Assistant.

Just chatted with Ring. I guess the latest sensors are a different Z-wave that only work with the Ring base station. Ugh. That’s a couple of hours wasted.

I buy ring door sensors and connect them directly with z-wave. No problem with doing that. But then they are not part of the Ring system for monitoring.

I’m not sure what the latest sensors include. It would be interesting if the new sensors worked differently with the old base station which was, I assume, standard z-wave inclusion.

Once the devices are paired with the Ring Base Station then you use Ring-MQTT as mentioned.
