Detecting Presence via Smartphone

Hello everyone,

I would like to control some automations based on the presence or absence of the two residents in our home.
For this, I use the connection to our Wi-Fi in Home Assistant, which I get through the AVM Tools integration. The phones involved are an iPhone 12 and an iPhone 14. Besides the latest FRITZ!Box, I have two LAN repeaters installed in a mesh system.

After integrating the FRITZ!Box into Home Assistant, I can query the entity device_tracker. In principle, it provides the presence and absence of both devices, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work at all. The status sometimes doesn’t change for days and is definitely not accurate.

I’ve been testing this for about two weeks now, but I can’t get it to work. Interestingly, the device_tracker entity has now been automatically incremented to version 3…

What am I doing wrong? Who can help me?

Have you turned off the private wifi address setting on your iPhones?
Standard behaviour is that they request everytime a new IP

Hi, thanks for the fast reply. I did not enable notifications so i just saw your response.

Yes, I did turn off the private wifi address in both phones
