Device choice: Android VS Pi

Good morning everyone !

After having tested/explored home assistant on m’y laptop (Windows 10), it looks that I want to go further in this world !

Now I am thinking on which direction I should go (and looking some help for that). I have an old Galaxy That I don’t use since a wild, and I would like to use it as main panel for my future installation. I was wondering: should I install hass on a Pi and use the tablet only to display my dashboard, or should I run hass directly on the tablet ?

I saw some topics on how to proceed, but at the end not really on the advantage/disadvantages.

What I would like to control is basic: stores, lights, plugs. Regarding this, do you have any advices/return on experience?

Thanks for your help !

The Pi

The tablet has many shortcomings, not the least of which is that not all Python modules will be available. It’s also likely slower than the Pi, which will be slower than your laptop.

Thanks for your really clear feedback !
