So, my ikea dirigera has changed it’s IP, and now, all the 10 devices that I have attached to it, and that I use extensively in my automations are not usable.
Why, why the hell have the team decided that bet on a single IP forever for a device was a good idea?
Worst of all, is that it doesn’t appear in any config file, so I have no idea what to do now, other than having to remove and add it again
worked like a charm. thanks Arthur
Does this need to be open as a feture request or a bug?
I find very weird that devices needs to be attached to a single IP, specially those that do not have fixed IP addresses.
I signed up to the forums just to say that I was having this issue with my two smart TVs: a Roku and a Vizio. It seems that the ability to change a device’s IP address is integration-specific.
For my Roku, in the integration under “Devices”, under the ellipsis button I was able to find a “Reconfigure” option which allowed me to put in a new IP address.
For my Vizio, this option does not appear. I guess I’ll have to delete and re-add the Vizio. Annoying that it’s not standard but I guess I’m glad I only have to re-add one device and not two.
Yeah I find it really strange that I cannot reconfigure plugins when IP:s change or MAC:adresses change.
My TV was connected via ethernet cable and now it’s connected through WiFi, that means that both IP and MAC-address changed and now my automations doesn’t work.
Instead of just reconfiguring the plugin I need to go and hack a file on my system to get it to look at the new addresses.
Thank you for providing another good example of why this is needed. None of the provided “preventions” can prevent from this situation. Or replacing your router, or having to restore your DHCP from an older backup, and the list continues.
Of course there always be a little group of people that never faced this problem which will instead blame the end user, but hopefully the more people explain why this is needed for them the more likely is that this is taken seriously
