I’m setting up device tracking with OwnTracks and need some help.
I’ve configured the OwnTracks Android app, the MQTT broker add-on, and the MQTT integration in Home Assistant. The connection works, but I don’t see any messages in Home Assistant, and there’s no MQTT entry in the Developer Tools.
Additionally, I tried adding my OpenWRT router (via LuCI) as a device tracker. The configuration.yaml entry now has no errors, but I’m unsure how to specify which router clients to track.
Is this approach suitable for my use case? My goal is to automate actions like turning off heating and changing lighting when I’m not home. Once the basics are set up, I plan to add a Zigbee hub, lights, motion sensors, etc. For now, I’m using a Raspberry Pi 3, but it frequently shows power issues in the Home Assistant logbook.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
