Difficult Installing Home Assistant Green

Hi
I am struggling to find the server. It’s all connected correctly, the lights are showing what they should but the app will not find it and putting the ip address into a browser will not connect. Any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Are you able to access your HA green through a browser on a pc?
You are talking about the app: do you mean the companion app?

If your green is running, you should be able to access it with “http://the_IP_address_of_the_green:8123”.
If this works from a system that is connected to the same network as the green, the next step is to find out why the companion app is not finding your system.

Did you had a look at your router, if he found it? If you do so, you should also spend a fixed ip

Hi Nick,

No, I can’t access it from a browser?! Nor from the Android app

Any ideas?

I’m not sure what you mean?

  1. Did you connect your Green with your internet router with an ethernet cable?
  2. What is the exact line you put into your browser?
  3. What happens if you try http://homeassistant.local:8123 in your browser?
  1. Yes
  2. I have put http://192.168.1.239:8123 in
  3. I get the attached screen

Are you sure that this is the right IP address for your Green?
Can you connect a display to the HDMI port to see what is going on?
Have you seen this page: https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/24737667232413-Getting-started-with-Home-Assistant-Green and the related topics at the bottom (LEDs, … can’t access…)

yes, ive connected an hdmi and that shows as the right ip address

I have checked out the link and all seems as it should

Try another browser, make sure it does not force httpS.
Are you using any browser extension that might interfere?
Can you ping the IP address from your HA?

Hi Nick,
Tried via Firefox - no forced https and no add ons … no response
Pinged and shows no errors?

can you please share a screenshot from HDMI screen and from the pings
