Dimming lights

Hello, I’m new here… Can anybody show me a full example how to create an slider on the frontend to dim your lights?
also the calculation (because it use 0-255) and not percent.

I couldnt find a good example on the website. However I think that should be one of the basic stuff…
(In other systems they are automatically created).

It is one of the basic stuff, and should be there when you turn on your light.
Turn on the light and then click on the light to get the more info box.

If that is not working
What kind of lights do you have? Not all platforms supports dimming

I just moved to HASS, I used therefor Vera. The lights that I have are controlled by a Fibaro Dimmer 2. So I imported them from Vera. Sure I can put them ON and OFF, and I can set dimmer levels (brightness)… That all works.

But I cant see anywhere to create a slider to control the level on the frontend. I can’t believe there are not any examples on the website, etc… I also seen some frontends, and never saw a frontend with a brightness level slider to dim lights.
Creating dimming sliders on the frontend should be one of the basic stuff for HASS, one of the first steps of automation.

It should already be in the frontend.
Did you tired what I suggested?

Then a brightness slider should appear.

I see, but when I put lights on, it toggle the switch, but doesnt show a slider… Only when I refresh, then I can see a slider… strange…

Hmm, that is not normal.
The slider should appear when toggle the light to on.
If the problem continues, you should report it as a bug: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/issues
And you should probably add information about which os and browser you are using.

Also I find it strange that the slider doesn’t appear when it’s off. Eg. when you want to have the lights on 30% for example. You have to put the lights on (that can hurting your eyes) and after that slide back to 30%, so you need to take one extra step. Why not direct slide from 0 to 30%? In my opinion the slider should be always visible.

OS: Win10/Chrome … On my Nexus 6P: (chrome) it shows it directly…
Maybe I should try to clear my cache on my PC.

Yeah, and many people (included myself) agree with you.
But it has been discussed many times and it does not seem to change.
