Hey gang. I bought a bunch of those cheap little BLE iTag buttons. Got the button all rigged up to one of my ESP32 devices and I can detect button presses.
Wondering if anyone else who’s using these has figured out how to disable the beep sound on button presses, besides popping it open and de-soldering the buzzer…
No other way, i’m afraid, since buzzer is connected internally. These chinese tags are quite battery hogs, btw… and they require a quality ones, with no-name cheap batteries it can happen that they don’t even start.
Thanks for confirming. I’ll see if I can split one apart and disconnect the buzzer. It’s really loud! Which I guess is the point if you’re using it to find a lost object 
Good news, these are really easy to take apart. I used an Exacto knife to pop it open along the seam. The buzzer can be removed without de-soldering. I cut away at the surface mount solder and pried gently and the buzzer pops right off, but the button still works!
