Discovered Matter devices?

This showed up today, but I don’t have any Matter devices.

Same thing here … I thought it was odd!

But do you have a device that advertises itself as a Thread Border Router or supports the Matter protocol directly as a controller? (Nest Hub, Echo, Apple TV, HomePod, etc)

Both advertise themselves and might trigger HA to add Matter support.

(I can’t test this as installed Matter with very early test devices, and do have Matter kit.)

If this helps, this post!

Thanks for the tip!

I ran HE.net Network Tools and it identified our Echo Plus (2nd gen) as a TBR. Surprising that a 2018 Echo Plus is supported but it looks like Amazon added this feature on May 2, 2023. Not sure why HA suddenly discovered it today after a year and a half.

Same here. I have not added anything to my home recently. Why would it suddenly discover this? Adding it does not actually add any devices. It just installs the Matter integration and Matter Server Add-On.

@888home How did you use HE.net Network Tools? Your link just links to their home page.

HE.net > Quicklinks BGP Toolkit > Network Tools App > Google or Apple store

Ah, it’s an app. Thanks.

Ah, was wondering the same thing as the OP! Looks like it’s my Amazon Echo too. Anyone know how decent the capabilities of this are as a thread border router? I don’t have any Zigbee devices at present but in theory would a Matter device be able to connect through this?
