I have seen functions of the HLK-LD2450 radar sensor on youtube and how zones can be set up. Can it meassure the size of the object and distinguish a cow from a person or car?
I have cows walking by in the street and don’t want the light to come on for cows, only people and cars, eventually dogs.
I think you will have to look i to a camera with AI object detection instead.
Specs dont report any ‘size’ of object. The firmware detects humans in general and would possibly not mark a cow for human. Also its intended for inhouse use.
As wally already noted, a camera will help you more. Camera itself should not need the feature, as you can do solutions with frigate and default objects:
thanks for your helpful comments. I looked into the camera AI option.
My laptop is running AMD graphics so I can’t use acceleration, it has to be intel?
But it’s great that it runs in docker!
I will postpone this for now.
regarding the LD2450 I was thinking with all it can do, if someone here knows about another firmware that can meassure object size instead of distance?
It’s all triangulation and it can process 3 triangles at least.
I have read that it is for indoor use only. But I have used wathertight IP65, IP66, IP67 enclosures outdoors before. If they are properly installed then this box is dryer than inside the house. I use those black screw terminals which tighten a seal around the cable. It has to be one round cable and not two or more stands, and feed it from the bottom into the box.
Never had any proplems, I have several devices in the rain.
I think Frigate setupa often use a Coral Stick for the hardware performance.
I know the USB should work well, but I am unsure if the other versions can be used.
